Speaking out.
Starting off by talking about the issues at hand can make those involved with the process of inclusion more comfortable and knowledgeable about the social issues that are present in their society. This can be seen in the Smithsonian’s page on being anti-racist, which gives helpful information and tips on how to have a conversation with someone about racism and how to look at your own perspective differently. (National Museum of African American History and Culture).
Speaking out about social and political issues and spreading information to a museum’s audience is useful because it can spread awareness to new people show the museum’s support of their community. This concept was done by many art museums such as the National Gallery of Art said, “Our past does not have to be our destiny. We must let the power of art, which is the power of all that we share as human beings, be a power that prevails through this difficult time.”(Feldman) at the end of their three-paragraph statement.
